Frequently Asked Pest Control Questions

Do you guarantee your work?

Do I need to sign a long-term contract for your services?

We’ve learned through years of experience that one treatment will rarely solve every pest issue. That is why we ask that you set up service for 1 year with us to allow us to show you the difference with our regular maintenance visits. Our goal is to keep you completely satisfied so that you hopefully will remain with us for many years to come. We do not require any further agreements after the 1st year. Our maintenance of your home or business will continue on a service by service basis until we are informed in writing by you to discontinue the visits.

Does Preventive Pest Control need to service the interior of my home every time or can they just service the exterior?

Yes, we can service just the exterior of your home, although we do recommend that you have the interior serviced during the initial clean-out service. Many people prefer that we service just the exterior of their home—Ninety-nine percent of pests that enter your home crawl or fly in from the outside. Therefore, a quality exterior regular service will usually be sufficient. However, should you need interior assistance, give us a call, and we’ll be happy to provide that for you.

Do I need to be home to receive the regular maintenance visits?

You do not need to be home for your regular visits. Our technicians will provide a detailed service and will make notes on your invoice of the work completed. Based on your preference, the invoice will be emailed or mailed to you the day after the visit. If you are not already set up with our autopay-discounted pricing, then you will have 30 days to make your payment for that service.

How will I know when my next service is scheduled?

Per your preference, we will send you a text, email, or phone call reminder 2 days before your scheduled appointment so you can leave the gate unlocked and put your pets inside.

Can I access my service history?

A great way to keep track of your service is through our convenient web portal. You can access this anytime from our website. On the web portal you can update your contact information, see your service history, next scheduled service dates, make payments and manage your payment preferences.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, ACH payments, and can be set up through your bank’s bill pay feature.

Do you offer a discount if I pay for a year in advance?

We offer a 5% discount if you choose to pay for 1 year of services in advance. That is a much better rate than any bank is offering!

Can I cancel this service agreement at any time?

We’ve learned through years of experience that one treatment will rarely solve every pest issue. That is why we ask that you set up a service for one year with us to show you the difference with our regular maintenance visits. Our goal is to keep you completely satisfied so that you hopefully will remain with us for many years to come. We do not require any further agreements after the 1st year. Our maintenance of your home or business will continue on a service-by-service basis until you notify us in writing to discontinue the visits.

Do you have to come out consistently? Can’t you just come out a couple of times a year?

A regular service is necessary to get rid of annoying pests and keep them out of your home. Frequent service is also essential to break the pest development cycle. Insect eggs are resistant to pesticides. So even though we service your home this month, most of the eggs that pests have already laid will hatch next month. A regular service agreement provides you with year-round protection from your pests as well as those migrating over from your neighbor’s property.

A regular service is also necessary due to the relatively short residual of the products available to professionals. Preventive Pest Control uses only products registered with the Environmental Protection Agency. The residual or length of time most products are effective against pests is approximately 60-90 days. Therefore, having regular bi-monthly/quarterly service is the only way we can provide a guarantee. As we come out regularly, we renew the barrier around your home to protect your family from the annoying pests that invade your home.

If I sign up with Preventive Pest Control, does this mean I’ll never see another bug in my house again?

No. Preventive Pest Control provides the best pest control service available, and our goal is to provide you with a pest-free environment. However, pests can enter your house in grocery bags, on pets, or through the air. In addition, pests are usually area/neighborhood problems, so even though we are treating your home, pests from the surrounding area can walk, crawl, or fly onto your property and attempt to enter your home. When we treat your home, We will flush the insects out of their hiding places, so you may see more pests than usual immediately after we treat your house initially. We ask that you allow 2-3 weeks for the treatment to take effect. If you still see an inordinate number of pests, give us a call, and we will re-service your home free of charge. By servicing your home regularly, we guarantee that we will provide you with such a high level of service that you will be satisfied. If you are not happy for some reason, we will return and service your home free of charge.

I’m not planning on moving, but if I do move before the 12-month service agreement is up, can I cancel the service?

Preventive Pest Control covers a wide local area, and we are in several different states (New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Utah, Nevada, and California). If you move to one of these areas, we would be happy to transfer the service free of charge. You need to notify the office of your new address before you move

If I call for a free re-service, how long will it take for the technician to come back out and service my home?

We will provide you with a free re-service as soon as we possibly can. We take re-services seriously and can usually be at your home the day you call or the next day.

Can you get rid of my mosquitoes?

No. When we service your home, mosquitoes that come in contact with our product will die. However, because mosquitoes can fly in from your neighbors’ property at any time, they are challenging to control. The best way to control mosquitoes is to remove all standing water from your home and install screen doors.

How do you treat for mice and rats?

The best method for treating rodents is exclusion. Mice can fit into a hole the size of a dime, and rats can fit into a hole the size of a quarter. Caulking and steel wool are great for sealing holes and cracks which mice and rats use to enter. After you’ve sealed any entry points, we can implement various products that will take care of rodents. We commonly use snap traps, glue boards, and rodent baiting programs. There will be a minimal charge for rats. The good news is that we won’t charge you anything extra for mice. Note: Speak with a branch manager for unique situations.

Can you get rid of the flies around my house?

No. When we service your home, flies that come in contact with the product will die. However, because flies can fly in from your neighbors’ property at any time, they are tough to control. The best method to control flies is through sanitation and exclusion. For example, keep a lid on your trash can, take it out regularly. Adding screen doors is also effective.

What type of referral bonuses do you offer?

We always appreciate referrals and will reward you with a $50 gift card for dinner.
